Mavrick 1

It seems to me that girls have really been owning it when it comes to incoming emerging artists of late. All power to them, yet the spell of girl power reign might just have been broken by this introduction to up-and-coming talent Mavrick.

A Scandic newcomer of Swedish decent. By this info alone we are chomping at the bit already with an appetite to hear this boys vocal chops aren’t we?!

Thankfully all comes through as good in sound balance as written word arrived to me on paper, in alert to this worthy electronic pop proposition.

After dropping a confident debut by way of the eclectically alt-pop delivered cut “Remedy” a while back, Mavrick whipped up a swathe of interest which now has him inked in a worldwide contract with Universal Music.

It is clear as day by the level of artistic intent which emanates from Mavrick’s commanding vocal presence alone that he has a world-stage appealing style which if managed to its fullest potential, has the recipe down to catapult another Swedish pop prospect on us from a height of future greatness.

There’s smoke here which fires up similarly inclined comparison to the soulful vocal imprint given by peer in Scandipop artistry Erik Hassle, especially so in reference of when Erik gets his pop party magic on.

More interesting that the full weight of Mavrick’s splendour is revealed in his gloomily titled sophomore release “Funeral”.

Granted this doesn’t sound a very joyous choice of song title to be going about whipping up some attention for yourself. If honest were it not that he’s a bit of a looker in the handsome stakes I might have had him marked down on the face of it as wallowing knee deep in melancholy.

Such a sweet surprise, that Mavrick’s living up to his name and flipped into quite the reverse on this. The song narrative might be serious to its bitter in anguish cause, recognized of calling time on a relationship which in all probability died. Yet in fully realizing this has been clung onto rather than do the bigger thing of making the break and letting go.

The cinematically dynamic sound is amped up to the lotfy pop heavens by a visiting choral chorus casting its majestic spell over this bittersweet subject, with a punch of celebration in the air that a unique and accomplished new talent is taking on pop with an assertively masterminded creative vision, all of his own. Very much praises be, HURRAH for this!
