I understand I am more than likeliest in the minority for not having seen one episode of the animated sitcom Bob’s Burgers. That being so – lately, I have familiarised myself with the music of two-time Emmie nominee John Roberts. The actor is widely recognized as the multi-talented voice behind the character Linda Belcher on the Emmy award-winning show. Whereas, I am clueless about how good the TV show is. Because of listening to the recent music releases – I can at least attest I have found the music of John Roberts to consist of earwormworthy synth-pop bangers.
I would therefore recommend checking out his recent music releases even if you haven’t watched the show much like me.
With the new music, John isn’t going about things half-heartedly. Heading up the production duties on “Nothin 4 Something” John’s latest track, is none other than NYC house legend Junior Sanchez. This is a team effort, a long-term collaboration that continues to yield great results.
The latest release is an empowerment song. Where John states…
“I wanted to write a song about this a**hole ex-boyfriend of mine who was toxic”.
This is an interesting observation. The 80s-inspired synth-pop style does seem to have a unique appeal that is hard to resist. It has a way of invoking nostalgia that other genres simply can’t match. Therefore, it’s no wonder that “Nothin 4 Something” stands out from Junior’s other dancefloor hits, while still retaining an element of dance-pop. It’s a testament to the versatility of the artists involved.
But it’s not just the music that’s impressive. John also pulled out all the stops for the music video, enlisting the help of the uber-cool, multifaceted audiovisual artist Cody Critcheloe to direct. For the most part filmed in black and white. The video has elements reminiscent of “The Flashdance” storyline, with a nod to the iconic George Michael. It’s a teenage fantasy brought to life.
Don’t miss out on the incredible talent of John Roberts. His music is sure to hook you! Check it out HERE
