Melbourne based musician and avid space enthusiast BATTS has been steadily picking up support with her dreamy brand of indie-pop. It can be said her wistful tracks, and mesmerising soundscapes have cooked up a solar storm back home in Australia. Recently she made her first trip to the UK, to play shows at The Waiting Room, London as the warm-up act for Cub Sport. We were there to capture the action and met up with BATTS after the show for a chat.

The show was very much our introduction to the music of BATTS, but we instantly connected with her beautiful track “For Now“, which comes with a music video revolving around NASA footage. Naturally, we wanted to ask the lovely singer more about this, and especially about her fascination with previously unheard sounds recorded in outer space.

Also up for discussion, the track “Shame“. The lushly, dreamy song has such a pastoral feeling about it, the lyrics give heartfelt, understanding, of BATTS view, on the world. We just had to find out everything we could about the gentle, yet emotionally impactful track.

As the evening came to a close, we left with the venue not only clocking-up a new music discovery but also armed in the newfound knowledge BATTS radiates the same energy that was, very much early Sia before she became an EDM queen.
