I had all the intentions of being hot on the case. By sharing my thoughts on the comeback single “Rule The World” by The Wanted. I really did. But for becoming god awfully ill at the beginning of the week. Preventing me from doing so.
I am 48 hours late for the party. Yet, somehow, with the track now released, I think the party doesn’t stop. It just gets more crazy times with The Wanted lads. Proved by at least one madcap moment happening on Wednesday evening when Jay McGuiness referred to all The Wanted fans as being ‘old’ on the telly – when appearing on The One Show. Then later taking to Twitter, to respond to a barrage of light-hearted tweets and granny styled memes from the fans by saucily saying “Come on down you creaky but cheeky darlins‘”. When referring to the incident where Jay was speaking about the upcoming 2022 tour.
I was pumped for the release of the comeback track. Since the lads confirmed their reunion with a series of announcements in September. That kicked off with the extraordinarily, brave Tom Parker, inspirational “Inside My Head” documentary and Stand Up To Cancer charity concert. But with “Most Wanted – The Greatest Hits“, a 2022 tour and a new track “Rule The World“, Max, Nathan, Tom, Jay, and Siva are really spoiling us as we never expected.
So with the single “Rule The World” The Wanted haven’t strayed too far away from their bouncy pop origins. They give us a fist-pumping pop anthem about having the desire within us to reach for the stars in everything we do. Just what we need, a lovely song full of positivity! Written by Max George, Ari Leff ( aka, Lauv), Michael Pollack and Jakob Hazell with Svante Halldin (aka Jack & Coke).
I am also happy with how the video turned out. Full-on boy-band vibes, a nice nod to re-grouping, an element of adventure and firework party to celebrate the dawn of a new era. I love it as it is classic The Wanted. To tell the truth I was struggling through this week, as still not fully recuperated but the track, the video and Jay’s cheeky incident have all made me feel smiles better.
