I have literally been obsessed all day today with a trending topic I started on Twitter called #malepopappreciationday.
Why the silliness you ask? Well in a modern pop world dominated by the likes of Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Ke$ha, Kylie, Cheryl Cole and Katy Perry – the male representation in pop just doesn’t seem to have as big of an impact. Sure we have Bieber, Tao Cruz and Kanye, but what about all the OTHER brilliant male pop stars established and up-and-coming that we tend to overlook? Sometimes I think the male pop contingent has a harder time breaking through to the mainstream because of the weird and sometimes-looked-down-upon fine line of male pop artists expressing emotion, art and sexuality through music.
And that is really what Male Pop Star Appreciation Day is all about.
