{"id":35690,"date":"2023-11-30T11:14:04","date_gmt":"2023-11-30T10:14:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eqmusicblog.com\/?p=35690"},"modified":"2023-11-30T11:19:27","modified_gmt":"2023-11-30T10:19:27","slug":"femme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eqmusicblog.com\/femme\/","title":{"rendered":"Boys On Film Recommends: FEMME"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"cb-itemprop\" itemprop=\"reviewBody\">\n<p>If there is one film you need to see this week, it&#8217;s <strong>FEMME<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve had the pleasure of seeing this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zPGRxN1Tmcs\"><strong>SXSW<\/strong> <strong>original short film<\/strong><\/a> go from accolade-to-accolade to not-surprisingly being turned into a feature film. Last week I got to review the film with my fellow <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@PhilMarriott\/videos\">Boys On Film<\/a><\/strong> critics <strong>Phil Marriott<\/strong> and <strong>Sean Vickers <\/strong>and here is what we unpacked, which so far, has been my favorite film review to wax poetic on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt20114686\/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_q_femme\">From IMDB<\/a><\/strong>: FEMME follows Jules, who is targeted in a horrific homophobic attack, destroying his life and career. Some time after that event he encounters Preston, one of his attackers, in a gay sauna. He wants revenge.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"FEMME Movie (2023) Review \u2729 George MacKay, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ej4nCcsEQfo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I can&#8217;t stress how great <strong>FEMME<\/strong> is. LGBTQ+ storytelling has come a long way and it&#8217;s nice to witness this angle of storytelling being represented so flawlessly through the rising talent of co-directors <strong>Sam H. Freeman<\/strong> and <strong>Ng Choon Ping<\/strong> &#8211; a filmmaking duo who are ones to be reckoned with. The cast is anchored with solid and strong lead performances from emerging actors <strong>George Mackay<\/strong> and <strong>Nathan Stewart-Jarrett<\/strong> whose chemistry on-screen is undeniable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My sincerest hope is that considering the differences of the original short film and the feature length-film, a new queer universe in <strong>FEMME<\/strong> can be launched as FEMME could be the new <strong>Queer As Folk<\/strong> television event that we need right now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s the trailer&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"FEMME Trailer (2023) George MacKay, Thriller Movie\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/12ZvZuFIAQY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FEMME<\/strong> is released tomorrow in theatres.
