You may have noticed when we have recently been updating our monthly “This Beat Is Poptronik” playlist, we started to add-in one or two classic hit songs from the 80s, 90s and 00s. These could be tracks we featured on the blog during years gone by, a new mix out or a noteworthy cover we’ve had sent in or stumbled upon on the internet. Here’s one such nostalgic offering I’ve stumbled upon. While being a soft-rock track, I expect that more than a few EQ readers are familiar with the Cutting Crew 1986 release “(I Just) Died In Your Arms.” Now imagine it, driven by chillwave vibes and a sweet, honeyed vocal from a lovely French lady. Sound good? Thought, so.

This new reimagining peeped up quite by chance on my timeline a few days ago. It comes from Latin production duo Fallen Roses, who links with Mexican DJ Mr Pig, Andros who is another Mexican producer/DJ. And features vocals provided by Laurène Bourvon of the French duo Lunis. (Wow, it’s quite a line-up involved, isn’t it? I thought so as well.) With so many artists on board, this cover could have gone one of two ways. a) be a terrible mess or b) be a very, nice, interpretation of what has become a rather, iconic track from the 1980s.

"Listen
