I guess what’s first planted in our minds we first took a look at the title of The Ting Tings new release was the possibility of it being a cover of Röyksopp and Robyn’s recent electro magnificent tuneage “Do It Again”. HALT stop that train of thought in it’s tracks, it is infact nothing to do with Röyksopp and Robyn’s mind-blowing electronic masterpiece “Do It Again”, it is simply down to pure coincidence that within the space of a few months two separate pop outfits have chosen to release singles of the same name.

Let us get our ding dings over it and review it forthwith!

As diverse pop duo The Ting Tings may have taken us for a disco spin to the “Wrong Club” on the way to the release of forthcoming new album “Super Critical”, yet it seems that they can’t shake the blissed out, sunkissed disco funk sound out of their hair just yet, as here they come to follow up upon the Studio 54 reminiscent retro fusion that presented itself on “Wrong Club” with a Balearic sunset assisted sound structure basking in chilled-out white isle, sun-down euphoria of a second single “Do It Again”.

It is mellowed out in its sound in comparison to its disco-hued partner in “Wrong Club” but when the riff running through “Do It Again” takes hold it is actually quite slap funk Kool And The Gang “Get Down On It” intoxicating, if truth be told.

So yes it seems The Ting Tings really are going about nailing down a full nostalgia trip of disco origins on the upcoming album “Super Critical”.
