{"id":10888,"date":"2014-09-16T19:42:06","date_gmt":"2014-09-16T18:42:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress-98520-280723.cloudwaysapps.com\/?p=10888"},"modified":"2014-09-16T19:42:06","modified_gmt":"2014-09-16T18:42:06","slug":"listen-to-the-city-below-by-mackintosh-braun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eqmusicblog.com\/listen-to-the-city-below-by-mackintosh-braun\/","title":{"rendered":"Listen to \u201cThe City Below\u201d by Mackintosh Braun"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Photo: Rachael Allison<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The acclaimed Portland, Oregon synth-pop duo of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MackintoshBraun\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MackintoshBraun\" target=\"_blank\">Mackintosh Braun<\/a><\/strong> have long found their niche of within the genre if preceding albums \u201c<strong>The Sound<\/strong>\u201d and \u201c<strong>Where We Are<\/strong>\u201d are anything to go by.<\/p>\n<p>In going in for their third studio album release \u201c<strong>Arcadia<\/strong>\u201d (coming early 2015), the duo have sought to break out of their comfort zone a little by opening up their creative working experience and collaborating with <strong>Mars Volta, Matt &#038; Kim<\/strong> producer <strong>Lars Stalfors<\/strong> firstly on their forthcoming EP release \u201c<strong>The City Below<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>As indicated via the title track \u201c<strong>The City Below<\/strong>\u201d this collaboration is proving a resounding win. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MackintoshBraun\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MackintoshBraun\" target=\"_blank\">Mackintosh Braun<\/a><\/strong> have always had in place quality synth-pop melodies but it seems by embracing another into their studio process has helped to further enhance their already delightfully intricate and warming compositions to a new height of truly pleasurable listening.   <\/p>\n<p>Pair up the duo\u2019s lilting dreamy vocals with a folktronica vibe formed of hazy beats and shimmer, and we\u2019re transported within the otherworldly realms of a path similarly trodden by the Australian dreampop duo of <strong>Gypsy And The Cat<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>The City Below<\/strong>\u201d might be easy on the ear, but it is not a song that is instantly forgotten owing to its superb in-balanced compositional qualities of transcending vocals and cloud frothy melody.  <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"450\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/160129458&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false&amp;visual=true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Photo: Rachael Allison The acclaimed Portland, Oregon synth-pop duo of Mackintosh Braun have long found their niche of within the genre if preceding albums \u201cThe Sound\u201d and \u201cWhere We Are\u201d are anything to go by.
