If you were, to delve into the EQ Music Blog archives you will see, it has been a long time since we’ve written about the soul-pop singer Kelli-Leigh. After, having heard her new song “Do You Wanna Be Loved Like This?” we have agreed it’s a smasher and makes us feel as though it is time enough to be rediscovering her again.
From touring with Adele as her backing vocalist, working with Jessie J, collaborating with Jax Jones through to supporting Fifth Harmony on tour, it might seem as though Kelli-Leigh has done it all. Quite incredibly, after all this time it recently it came to light, that she celebrated the release of her debut single. “Do You Wanna Be Loved Like This?” released through Kelli’s, own record label no less. When we said it was a smasher, we meant it. Not only does Kelli’s soulful vocal shine so bright she’s had to pop on her shades in the accompanying music video, remarkably it’s roots are anchored in 90’s styled electronic pop. Whoop, whoop!
I can tell you for nothing, DJ’s are going to be itching to add this to their setlists. Kelli’s beautifully toned vocals are on par with several of today’s top pop divas. And the melodic, dance groover comes with a sleek remix package that is worthy, to pack dance floors around the globe. I detect a little Taylor Dayne “Tell it to My Heart” bounce in the song’s riff, noticing these vibes emanating from the rhythm just made the song off the hook. This song packs heat, so hot its hard to even, resist drumming your fingers to the beat when it takes hold. We never doubted for a minute, Kelli-Leigh’s star is rising. Once you hear for yourselves, how incredible “Do You Wanna Be Loved Like This?” is you will not forget it in a hurry. It’s a song that will shoot her solo, music career into full speed. Be ready to remember the name Kelli-Leigh.
