This is JEFFE. She is a multi-talented artist out of Sydney, Australia. We really should take a look at her recent single “Undecided” because it’s the kind of electronic indie-pop track that is effortlessly cool, as though without even trying to cause a stir. The track was pushed into my inbox a couple of months ago in hot readiness for its release. If I am being completely honest, I didn’t feel it was an appropriate time to release such a delicately, poised track. With people enjoying their summer holidays, I suspected it may have become the gem that was overlooked. So it pleases me that the rollout of the supporting music video has happened some weeks later. Where I feel the track should gain the proper focus it deserves.
JEFFE possesses one of those dreamy voices, evocative and mysterious which can all too readily envelop us listeners with a soothing, optimistic feeling. The melody crafts a warm sound, delicately crafted, multi-layered electronic chords, deliver harmony and dreamy art-pop brilliance with innovation. The track, both lush, and lucid at the same time rewards more and more with each, listen. It is exciting elegant and enticing. Sophisticated and polished. Not at all wintry nor suited to sunny climes neither. It can’t be pigeonholed, in ways, it’s otherworldly. All except, the Riley Blakeway directed music video which plays out a story of a young person figuring out who they are.
The song itself is not so blindingly obvious, a banger. It is a charmer though. One which will ignite a slow-burning curiosity in the artiste. Take a listen now. Feel the gorgeous vibe. It’ll only be a matter of time before you become hooked with the enchanting musicality of JEFFE. She will sincerely captivate your ears.
