After a short bout of teasing, he’s finally done it, Troye Sivan has honoured his promise of new music and given us the first taste of his sophomore album, coming this spring. The first single off of the yet unnamed album project is “My My My!” it see’s Troye joining up with co-writer Leland again who contributed greatly, to the young singer’s highly acclaimed debut project “Blue Neighbourhood“.
Aside from collaborations with Alessia Cara on a reworked version of single “Wild“, a team up with Betty Who on the song “Heaven” and a featured artist spot on the Martin Garrix track “There For You“, we haven’t had anything new for a couple of years. When you’re young, this amount of time can bring a lot of change with it and after the huge success of debut “Blue Neighbourhood” Troye really, needed to explore different angles for the follow-up. Pictures of a new blonde look for Troye popped up online a few months ago looking super, happy, and he’s continued to drop little hints about working on the album. I see the new hair scenario like slipping on a new set of clothes, a new look defining a new era in the case for the singer.
Two years on from the release of “Blue Neighbourhood” Troye has learned to let go of his inhibitions, go out there and have a little fun which is reflected, in the lyrical and visual nature of “My My My!“. I love the whole, dance like nobody’s looking vibe of the video, the moves are full of sexy. So, we can’t be referring to him as cute anymore? well maybe we still can on occasion but, he has clearly, turned up the heat and is living life in its element. Troye has always been a positive role model for the young LGBT community it’s awesome to see him spreading pure joy completely being his authentic self.
