Let me begin this feature by saying – I am the last person I would expect to be writing about Rosé today. This is owing to the fact although I occasionally dabble in it. I haven’t fallen hard similarly as others have for the K-pop music scene.

And it isn’t for want of trying, on my part. I recently completely immersed myself in the six-part series “Made In Korea: The K-pop experience” which aired on UK’s BBC1. This viewing experience, however, has instiled a greater fascination in me than I previously had with the genre. Moreover, the meticulous training programme these artists go through, often than not rendered me wide-eyed or speechles. sometimes both at once. Similarly, I am always eager to listen, if not totally understand the level of hype around this style of music. I am particularly interested in the burgeoning solo careers of K-pop band members. Most notably, Rosé from Blackpink who is presently scaling the upper echelons of pop stardom in her own right.

Listen on Apple Music

As much as I have listened, it is the new track “Toxic Till The End” that coincided with the “ROSIE” debut album release, which compels me to feature Rosé on the blog today. Maybe I find joy in the synth-strewn musical soundscape that exhibits little hints of Owl City, “Fireflies” or the essence of Taylor Swift‘s pop sound this particular song exudes. Regardless, I cannot deny the undeniable star power of “Toxic Till The End.”

What I love best is the mini film concept of director Ramez Silyan. In the music video, co-starring “Gossip Girl” actor Evan Mock, the clip exudes an 80s/90s aesthetic. And I love that viewers get to see the backstory of the lyrical narrative of a toxic relationship. Furthermore, It seems to me Rosé can take her pick of creative avenues to explore further. Since above all she is that notable multi-hyphenate music artist. As an unstoppable force, Rosé is only getting started. Therefore, it should come as a surprise, when in 2025, she becomes a massive solo artist similarly, of the same stature as Sabrina.
