Imogen Heap

Creativity, music and technology go hand-in-hand when it comes to the ever resourceful artiste Imogen Heap. We quite love her for all of the above and specifically for continually seeking out new innovations, topped only by Immi’s always delightfully forward thinking attitude.

Last year turned about as a very eventful year for Heap, being that her fabulous music making MiMu gloves became a saleable commodity. Immi’s fourth studio album “Sparks” finally saw the light of day and also the not so small matter of becoming a mother.

Quite honestly, after that little lot one would be expected to take some time out.

We are sure that Imogen did chill-out for a while, but with a mind so reeling with ideas, productivity and invention of course, the urge of putting new schemes into action is always so appealing when you’re a geek. Hence, Imogen’s return with latest venture, the creation of a music sharing platform using Blockchain technology.

To sum all up in just a few brief words, is not a happening thing!

I can tell you though, it’s all immensely interesting. Significantly in the interests of new artiste’s Imogen feels. Bascially the places to head to, to gain the best insight of all things noting Imogen Heap’s involvement with Blockchain can be found in the articles shared with the Guardian and on Imogen’s blog.

In the tiniest overview, it is an all emcompassed platform at the complete control of the artiste’s involved. One of the things that I really loved when absorbing all the info – which I surely did geek over, was Imogen’s bringing to the attention that in the digital age of purchasing downloads over physical matter – a lot of information and credit is lost. Think about it, there are NO liner notes with a digital download! Therefore, a substantial amount music industry talent, be it backing vocalists / additional musicians and suchlike don’t receive any appropriate accreditation for their involvement.

This is massively wrong in my opinion! Big pat on the back for Immi in doing something about this. This information needs to be out there as a source like this, otherwise how is the music industry to grow, if nobody knows who is responsible for what in the making of a recording. Simples!

Starting the ball rolling on this exciting new venture, Imogen shares all the technical insight that went into the realisation of her lastest track “Tiny Human”. Composed in homage to her own “Tiny Human” daughter Scout. The track is nothing short of being amongst one of Heaps best, particularly in that, Immi has the perfect grasp of relaying just how overwhelming motherhood can be from all points of perspective.

The visual created for Sennheiser directed by Imogen and her partner Michael Lebor is quite breath-takingly brilliant, and made with all consuming love. How can you not consider this on all accounts, anything but heart-warmingly adorable.
