It’s truly remarkable that despite their illustrious career, the iconic 80s duo Tears for Fears has never put out an official live album, until now. Capitalizing on the success of their latest 2022 album, “The Tipping Point.” The band is not only releasing a live album titled “Songs From A Nervous Planet.” But also announces the upcoming screening of a breathtaking concert film in cinemas. The film, titled Tears for Fears Live (“A Tipping Point Film“), features footage from the sold-out global The Tipping Point Tour Part 2, recorded at the FirstBank Amphitheater at Graystone Quarry in Franklin, TN. Trafalgar will distribute the film in cinemas worldwide.
I have a feeling these special cinema screenings of the Tears for Fears film will be similar to the Pet Shop Boys “Dreamworld” Greatest Hits Live Tour shown in cinemas earlier this year. I highly recommend this event, as I found the “Dreamworld” experience an unforgettable one. The combination of the grandeur of an arena performance with the intimacy of a smaller cinema made for an amazing afternoon.
The film will premiere in over 1,100 cinemas worldwide on October 24 and October 26. Tickets go on sale Thursday, September 19. More information can be found here.
Tears for Fears has had a remarkable music career, producing numerous hits. Such as “Everybody Wants to Rule The World,” “Mad World,” “Sowing the Seeds of Love,” “Head Over Heels,” and “Shout.” Their upcoming live album, “Songs From A Nervous Planet,” features a blend of the classic tracks and songs from their latest album, “The Tipping Point.” This live recording also includes four new tracks, with “The Girl That I Call Home” now teased as a focus track. The song encapsulates the timeless Tears for Fears sound, beloved by many. Additionally, a music video directed by Maschima combines elements of the past and present. Moreover, incorporating the symbolic sunflowers theme from the “Sowing the Seeds of Love” promotions.
As comebacks go Tears for Fears is a true reflection of their original style and remarkable artistry. Their music feels timeless. Furthermore, it seems likeliest there are possibly still many unheard songs waiting for their moment to shine. I am determined to fulfill my dream of seeing them perform live one day. In the meantime, I’m eagerly looking forward to experiencing “The Tipping Point” Live at a cinema near me soon.
