The latest Ella Henderson track “Take Care Of You” is rather, good. It has every reason to be, considering top songwriting team Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter were involved in the making of this one. Not in any way to dampen down on the presence and command of Ella’s fierce vocals, of course. It’s just that, it cannot be denied how industry heavy-weighted this fantastic pop song is. I was half expecting the release to be embodied with dance vibes, I am pleased to have found that it is more of a full-blown pop, smash instead.

Take Care Of You” is the first taste of Ella’s brand-new EP, arriving this summer. It really does feel quite different in comparison to the big collaborations with Jax Jones, Sigala and Sam Feldt she’s featured on most recently. I wouldn’t go so far to say she’s undergone a rebrand, more that Ella is showing us even more of her versatility as a vocalist and songwriter.

Ella says: “When I wrote “Take Care of You” I couldn’t put into words how I was feeling, but alongside two of my favourite writers in the world, Julia and Justin, they helped me turn my thoughts into song. This song is for everyone I love, as well as a message of self-care – a personal reminder to look after myself, both mentally and physically.”

The official video, directed by Rauri Cantelo, delivers an interesting concept. Where we see the singer caught up in her feelings and having kind of a rubbish day. By reaching out with the use of the internet, the glow of positivity comes seeping back into her life. It’s an amazing uplifting piece of footage shot using iPhone’s and drones which offers some useful tips for self-care. Sweetly done and seamlessly put together. It really resonates with the rollercoaster of emotions many of us will have experienced in the last few months.
