I was surprised somewhat when I saw “Bauhaus Staircase” trending on Twitter less than a month ago. It felt like it came out of nowhere for Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, who are part of the legendary synth-pop duo Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. But honestly, I could not be happier for them. They are such great guys and have been advocates of electronic music in the UK for so long. The fact that this new single caused such a stir is a testament to the staying power of their music, even after all these years. It is hard to believe that the duo has been making music for 45 years now. However, this goes to prove that they still have what it takes to excite and inspire their fans.

Today, OMD has released a second new single, “Slow Train” and announced their European and UK tour dates! Tickets will be available for purchase starting on September 22nd. Pre-order the album from the OMD website before 5pm UK time today (September 19th), and you will receive access to an exclusive pre-sale that takes place on the morning of September 20th. Look out for further information about the pre-sale in your email on the evening of September 19th. For more information, check out http://BauhausStaircase.com

The release of the thundering electronic track “Slow Train” is marked with yet another striking video concept created by the Hull-based Cine 1080 Studio. OMD has described this clip as a bumpy Sci-Fi surrealist ride. It is both sci-fi and has dystopian vibes emanating from it. Can I say, I would expect a Depeche Mode track to be more in keeping with this sound than OMD. Regardless born from the impetus to kickstart new explorations during lockdown, Andy and Paul have seemingly had a ball covering new sonic ground (Namely akin to Depeche Mode’sViolator“). For a “Slow Train” this track exudes incredible energy.

“Slow Train is a bonkers song and the video is stunningly crazy!” Andy reflects. “It feels nice to be able to challenge people’s expectations of the band after 45 years of creating music.”
