The momentum surrounding Haute & Freddy right now feels impossible to ignore. Across the United States the flamboyant alt-synth-pop duo have been building a buzz that grows louder by the day through streaming platforms and online tastemakers. They are being rightfully showered with praise, and I was completely captivated from the very start. Their deliciously theatrical blend of glitter, drama and synth-driven pop hooks is instantly captivating.

What I wasn’t entirely sure about, however, was whether the UK audience would catch the same fever. That uncertainty didn’t last long. When Haute & Freddy announced the dates for the “Big Disgrace Tour, kicking off in London this May. The response was immediate, Overwhelming demand sparked an immediate addition of more shows. It’s now abundantly clear that UK listeners are every bit as hooked on the duo’s decadent pop spectacle.

Today marks another defining milestone in their ascent. Following their breakout year in 2024, Haute & Freddy have officially unveiled their debut album “Big Disgrace”, now available across all your favourite streaming platforms. The album arrives after a tantalising run of preview tracks that steadily built anticipation, and today, fans are treated to the arrival of the dazzling “Showgirl At Heart”.

Naturally, a Haute & Freddy release wouldn’t be complete without a striking visual world to accompany it. The video for “Showgirl At Heart” unfolds like a glittering Cinderella-style tale — though told entirely in the duo’s unmistakable aesthetic. Their visual identity is one of the most compelling aspects of the project: glamorous, mischievous, and dripping in theatrical flair.

“‘Showgirl At Heart’ is about that moment when you wonder if you missed your shot — and then finding a place where the dream still exists,” the duo explain. “The velvet hall is this little world we made up where you’re fearless and cheered on. Even if it’s just for the night, it’s real.”

With “Big Disgrace” now out in the world, Haute & Freddy are stepping boldly into their own spotlight. It’s theatrical pop at its most fearless — decadent, eccentric and gloriously self-expressive. If this album proves anything, it’s that sometimes the very qualities we once felt compelled to hide can become the dazzling centrepiece of our greatest creative triumphs.

Big Disgrace is all the eccentric, over-the-top parts of ourselves, we thought we had to hide, on full display,” Haute & Freddy explain. “Like a sonic topless shimmy where said shimmer holds direct eye contact with the one person in the room giving a judgemental scowl.”
