She only dropped her debut mixtape “One Foot In Front of The Other” in June. But Griff is back, blessing us with a new single, “One Night“. Throwing light on the rapidness of the new release. During her recent appearance at the Boardmasters festival, Griff took to Instagram to explain. “Wanted to quickly say that “One Night” is coming out soon. Even though my label already accidentally leaked it on all the mixtape vinyls”.
The track falls in line with all of her releases through 2021. With being lyrically driven melodic pop (albeit a bolder pop presence on this one) with a gleaming message poking through it. “One Night” was written about the insecurities and anxieties that catch up with us when we are trying to wind down at the end of the day.
“I think, in the daytime, we can feel distracted because we’re around people and we’re busy. But that moment between going to bed and falling asleep, there’s just enough silence for those burdens to get louder”. Griff says.
In the music video, we see Griff dancing with her shadow self. Confronting her anxieties while trying to restore some calm and balance. She dances so beautifully that it is enchanting to watch her bring this song to visual life in this way. Griff does not shy away from learning new creative skills. She applies herself to each new venture. We saw her learn to walk the tight-rope for the “One Foot In Front Of The Other” promo, and she masters full-on emotively expressive choreography for “One Night“.
Her tracks really hold up, and her voice soars confidently. Griff does not always sing about love, but what we go through and feel in life. Making her tracks more interesting than most pop songs. Definitely, this directive is working for Griff and is the unique recipe that has helped her pop out another good but clever track in “One Night“.
