One of our favourite entries at the 2017 Eurovision came from the contests overall runner-up Kristian Kostov, who represented Bulgaria with “Beautiful Mess“, a beautiful pop masterpiece styled in a similar vein to Troye Sivan’s “Blue Neighbourhood” era. Since appearing at Eurovision, Kristian has gone on to release music only in his native tongue and pick up an EBBA for the emerging artist category at the European Border Breakers Awards. As the attention slowly begins to build with the 2018 contest in Lisbon, Portugal in mind, Kristian returns with “The One” (I Need You), his first English spoken release since appearing at Eurovision.
Because of this, rumours have been circulating that the teenager could again, be heading to the competition in Lisbon. But, I am of the opinion, his record label saw the opportunity there would be a lot of talking about Eurovision going on and, discussions regarding the 2017 contest that would push, a little interest towards Kristian back into the spotlight, again.
In the time since I last spoke about the Russian teen pop star, he’s experiencing life as a blonde, following a peroxide makeover this summer. Turned the new song into a family affair, featuring brother Daniel and his brother’s girlfriend Maria as co-writers on the anthemic, upbeat track. And, put out a super cute, feel-good music video which follows the singer hanging out with one of his best friends. I have to say, it is lovely, to see so much gorgeous smiling in the clip and Kristian of course, is just, adorable at it. In two minutes, fifty-four seconds, the teen pop star and his BFF will steal your heart with a glimpse into their endearing, friendship.
