If you missed, the big news announcement coming from Youngr HQ. The multi-talent has signed with the Dutch independent record label Armada. The label looks after some of the best known and loved artists/producers/DJ’s in the field of EDM. Armin Van Buuren, Chicane, Cedric Gervais, and Fedde Le Grande, among some of the glittering names Youngr can now call labelmates. The move also highlights that things in a musical sense and style are evolving for the musician. As such he has taken a leap forward, soundwise on the new single “Nightcrawling“.
Clearly, Youngr had the transition in mind when he released the “Obsession” EP late last year. An EP which saw the multi-instrumentalist return to the sound he became notable for when creating his legendary bootlegs and remixes. Clear the decks because Youngr has entered the big room. He has raised the bar to cinematic heights, slipped on the progressive house shoes of Robert Miles to bang-out this new tune. Without exaggeration, it feels as though it was made in homage to the Miles breakthrough hit “Children“. Just like the pioneering dream house track, the piano-house vibes are dreamy, chilled and majestic.
Speaking of the track, Youngr explains.
“I wanted to write a tune with the general message/feeling of getting through a tough time and having someone there to help you through it. Whether that is a partner, friend, family, or simply the feeling of being connected to all the other humans out there, going through the same thing. It feels as though we’re on the brink of a big change in our collective consciousness. Right now seems a little dark and confusing, but I think hope is on the horizon. I can feel it coming!”
Youngr has never made a boring music video. Although by the nature of “Nightcrawling” the latest visual treat has a somewhat darker feel running through it. We are taken on a trip deep into a forest in Sweden. Would you know it Youngr’s piano, drum kit and guitar just happen to be set-up there, nestled under a leafy clearing ready for the maestro to bang out this exceptional new tune.
