The pundits weren’t wrong were they! when they crowned Sam Smith the Sound of 2014, as throughout this year he’s lived up to expectations and them some, in his home territory and out there on the international stage. The recognition doesn’t stop there of course, as in seeing the year out carries with it further award show nominations in acknowledgement of Sam’s talent and amazing year. Achieving a record breaking 6 Grammy nominations is probably as perfect as a year ending could be dreamed of.
The latest cut taken from debut album “In The Lonely Hour” falls to the soaring mid-tempo pop ballad “Like I Can”. A track very much tinged in a yesteryear presence of nostalgia which lends its emotionally outpoured sentiment via an accompanying film clip chronicling Sam plus friends donning their best bib and tuckers on a night out in New York.
Woweee these guys sure look sharp in their penguin suits. I don’t mind telling you, a part of me was waiting for them to flash mob though. Alas an opportunity not seized upon.
