Freaky deeky! I am, absolutely convinced Dua Lipa read my review of her latest track “Physical.” I am sure I am the one who planted the idea of a workout video right into her pretty little head, with my rantings about Dame Olivia Newton-John’s 1981, hit of the same name. I am speaking in jest of course, as narcissism is not my vibe at all. I will confess at having a massive smile break out across my face when the alert arrived in my inbox about this new, high-energy workout video, which has also been, released in support of the song.
I previously stated that “Blatantly, obviously, I would have had no qualms” about Dua giving us her, own reimagining of the iconic 80s gem. But not really, expecting her to actually, go so far as to deliver a similarly sassy alternative music video. I mean, this really, is too much of a treat for 80s pop culture fans. You should also know I wouldn’t loop back so fast to re-blog a track, so soon after it’s original release either. Dua made it hard for me not to pledge my support. Being truthful, I have a condition called gym phobia. Having this condition means that I feel the burn just by watching the exercise classmates go through their warm-up routine, in the new clip.
If you think Dua is merely paying tribute to Dame Olivia Newton-John or the 80s, think again. The merch used in the video is now available to buy from her online store. Don’t fret if you don’t think you could rock a yellow bodysuit in the way that Dua does. The sweatpants look like a comfier option if you ask me. Besides, her merch marketing team hasn’t missed a trick, with being of the present times. The coffee mug is out and in comes the refillable water bottle as the preferred merch option for 2020 daily living.
