Rising artist Frankie Grande is picking up well-earned acclaim for his debut album, !Hotel Rock Bottom“. A project that boldly explores the highs and lows of addiction and sobriety, love, self-reflection, and escapism. Throughout the fifteen-track collection, Frankie unveils a newly sharpened signature sound, one that thrives on cohesion and emotional honesty. And, of course, as Ariana Grande’s older half-brother, there’s an undeniable sense of anticipation surrounding his artistic journey. Yet “Hotel Rock Bottom” stands firmly on its own merit, balancing club-ready energy with vulnerable lyricism.
In a press statement, Frankie shared, “This album holds pieces of me I’ve never shared before, parts that were broken, parts that healed, and parts that still ache a little.” Indeed, 2025 has been a milestone year for him, filled with promotion, performances, and an unmistakable artistic breakthrough. While the album’s songwriting often came from collaborative efforts, there’s an added triumph tucked into 2025, “I Don’t Remember It,” the very first song Frankie has ever written. Produced by Gregory Dillon, the track feels like the cherry on top of an already standout year.
When speaking about the single, Frankie explained its deeply personal origin. “I don’t really remember my prom because I wasn’t living as I am now and went with a girl,” he said. “So, this song is me rewriting that night in my mind, reclaiming it, and giving myself the prom I always dreamed of… the one where I get to show up fabulously, fearlessly, and slow-dance with the boy I always wished I’d taken.”
Musically, “I Don’t Remember It” glows with shimmering synths and heartfelt lyricism. However, what truly completes the experience is the Maksym Varenyk–directed music video, which brings Frankie’s reimagined prom night to life with cinematic charm. The visual captures the freedom, joy, and emotional release embedded in the song. Thus, offering Frankie the night he never had but always deserved.
And while it’s easy to become swept up in the narrative unfolding at centre stage, keep an eye on the background. Sharp viewers will spot Zee Machine making a cameo as the guitarist in Frankie’s prom-night band. (A fun Easter egg that adds to the video’s playful spirit!)
With “Hotel Rock Bottom” and “I Don’t Remember It,” Frankie Grande not only steps into his artistry but also steps fully into himself. It’s a debut era, driven by honesty, celebration, and a well-earned sense of pride. In fact, exactly the kind of story I love to watch unfold.
