Zibra

So ZIBRA are looked upon as an indie band but there is enough synths coming up through their quirky state of jaunty balance to sate my electro-pop addiction.

The band adheres to a no frills aesthetic, in overall image yes, but that doesn’t necessarily apply to their bombastic wall of sound which holds the capacity to pack out an arena quite amply. As a point in case, you should make a point to check over their whack makeover cover of “King” by Years & Years – who they recently toured with – it really is something of quite unfoundedly enthusiastic proportions.

Further to this, the trio and have just lauded one of their specialty DIY videos on their B-side track “Flats In Dagenham” which accompanies current single “Paris”.

Whilst is this track maybe seen to be over glorifying Dagenham somewhat, in all points of quirky pop circumstance and synth-pop, this track is hitting all the right notes with me. It has some scampish charm about it that brings to mind Damon Albarn and Blur and their hits “Parklife” and “Country House”. Moreover, is made of the stuffs that burrow in to produce the affects of stuck song syndrome, i.e. the repetitive earworm.

Buckle-up with these guys for a few ebullient filled minutes as they take us on a whistle-stop tour of Dagenham as seen down the lens of a GoPro camera. Also take on board ZIBRA are proving popular on the live circuit, as previously mentioned they’ve toured with Years & Years, alternative popster Saint Raymond and are about to accompany American singer/songwriter BØRNS on a few UK dates.

If an interesting blend of creative musicality and aloofness sounds like good times to you, jump on the ride as this one is definitely bone-fide kookily off-centre and fantastic!
