Even before JADE (Thirlwall) dropped her debut solo single, “Angel of My Dreams” this summer, there was a sense of high expectation from pop aficionados. As one by one, each of the members of the girl group Little Mix unveiled their solo chapters, pop music fans hunger for solo music from JADE intensified. When the solo single “Angel of My Dreams” did duly arrive, to a huge positive reaction. Similarly, the pop realm was sent spinning into seventh heaven over the EDM fuelled, pop banger. Moreover, with interest in JADE similarly escalating the craving for follow-up singles went into overdrive and did not die down. So much so, JADE dropped the bonus song “Midnight Cowboy,” before the release of her official sophomore single “Fantasy“.
The earlier releases of “Angel of My Dreams” and “Midnight Cowboy” clearly demonstrate that JADE is fearless in exploring different musical styles as a solo artist. This versatility makes the disco-pop flair of her official second single “Fantasy” not only less surprising but also an exhilarating treat for listeners, showcasing her evolution and creativity.
JADE undoubtedly brings an exceptional blend of talent and flair to her tracks. The visuals are equally captivating, enhancing her artistic vision. Who could fault JADE for drawing inspiration from legendary icons like Studio 54 and Diana Ross for her “Fantasy” music video? I mean, what could be more fabulous than slipping into those iconic shoes? Yet, despite her impressive accomplishments, JADE relentlessly pursues greater heights. As she sings like a skylark “about feeling safe enough with your partner to shamelessly explore your fantasies.” The Studio 54 music video concept of “Fantasy” takes an unexpected and intriguing turn.
I won’t give away any spoilers that could ruin the surprise. But it’s clear that director David LaChapelle has a strong desire to craft a captivating thriller experience, type movie.
JADE’s solo music artistry is undeniably evolving. Yet with diverse soundscapes this fly, I’m excited to be on this journey, all the way.
