Thanks to Lostchild, I’ve been keeping busy during my time at home and in lockdown. Joe (Lostchild) has been popping up online weekly, doing live gigs from his living room on Instagram Live and Facebook. These “in isolation” gigs have been an injection of fun and served as a joyful distraction from the strange times that we have all been experiencing. He also unleashed a spellbinding reimagining of The 1975 track “TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME” not so long ago.
Little did we know that the singer had yet another musical treat in store for us. As debuted during one of Lostchild’s recent live streams, a sweet cover of the Troye Sivan and Ariana Grande track “Dance To This.” Of course, you are right, this track is a duet, meaning this one’s a collaboration. Australian born pop singer-songwriter TIN joins Lostchild on this cute interpretation of the track. Perhaps I should further explain, TIN is Lostchild’s boyfriend (he’s currently living in OZ and was planning a move back to the UK just as the lockdown kicked in.)
Lostchild shares, “Dance To This” is a song about dancing in your kitchen, which is pretty much the only place you can dance in 2020, and so it seems like the perfect time to release the track.
These boys have not only dealt us a shimmering 80s synthed up version of the song. With the help of their friends, family and fans, they’ve made a particularly lovely isolation video. By featuring, people of all different backgrounds, ages, countries and identities the intention is, that the clip symbolises how the current pandemic is something we are all dealing with.
I love how this video montage is bursting with so many smiley faces and how it seems when in isolation everyone featured unashamedly got their TikTok groove on, dancing up a storm of pure joy. Watch the video, you simply won’t be able to resist the urge to dance along, as well.
