When it comes to Tove Lo’s music videos, she’s not one to shy away from telling a story, warts and all. The “Queen Of The Clouds” era gave us plenty of insight into this. Concentrating on provocative themes and darkly envisaged content, Tove doesn’t enter into the full creative experience of her music making without some serious fore-thought, behind it.

All rings true of her most recent single “Cool Girl”, the first track lifted off of forthcoming sophomore album “Lady Wood”. In that it’s powerfully resonating themes and musicality throughout lend it well to a somewhat surreal and almost bordering disturbing visual clip. In which we get to witness Tove play out some emotionally troubled behaviour. First shaving her hair. When then, cutting to the singer practicing her best lo-down dirty moves on the roof of a car, to lastly mounting a coffin and all but get her freak on with a corpse.

Largely bewildering and confusing. It’s all part of the buzz igniting one great big tease to a bigger story that will develop throughout the “Lady Wood” era, which again as in “Queen Of The Clouds” will be divided into themed chapters “Fairy Dust” and “Fire Fade”.

As the “Cool Girl” video closes out we get the briefest hint of what’s yet to come. A quick flash of imagery showing two women embroiled in explicit activity, merged with a clip of two cars racing towards a head-on crash has everything of the thrill factor to say the least.

No doubt about it. Tove’s really exceeded all our freaky deeky expectations with this one, which only seems likely to be ghoulishly extended upon some more by the looks of it.
