It seems that Kim Petras had a clever plan all along for “Coconuts.”No matter how you feel about the cheeky track, you cannot deny that she has been very smart-minded with this release. The playful anthem, celebrating her boobies, was always going to raise a few eyebrows. Kim has utilized the track to her advantage. She debuted “Coconuts” at the MTV EMA’s. It was her largest audience to date, and she performed with all eyes on her. Not forgetting to mention, it swiftly became a viral hit on TikTok. Social media hasn’t been the same since Kim unleashed “Coconuts” upon us – FACT.
It’s no coincidence that she kept back the official (dance) video until after the holidays, either. Like Kim was waiting for everyone to eat too many mince pies and sweet treats over the holidays. Knew we would be looking to start a new fitness regime come January. So here she is with her “Coconuts” dance workout to help encourage us all to get back into shape. How convenient!
The “Coconuts” dance is hardly a high-intensity exercise routine. It uses lots of armography and shimmying of her double D’s. In 2021, the “Coconuts” choreography generated a lot of TikTok responses. Kim has her eye on YouTube/Vevo for 2022, and the view count is on an upward curve there as well.
I think we should bear in mind how tricky the grocery shop might be, come the summer. The way Kim serves, we will never be able to look at a coconut in the same way ever again.
It is not my place to criticize Kim for playing on the good reception “Coconuts” has gotten. It’s her prerogative, after all. At the same time, I am curiously waiting for “Hit It From The Back“. It is likeliest the hot dance routine that was also teased at the EMAs on that one will cause even more controversy, I feel.
