OMG! I can’t stop watching the music video for the debut single of Little Mix singer JADE (Jade Thirlwall). Yesterday Jade released her long-awaited solo debut “Angel Of My Dreams,” which has been a great source of excitement. And yet, this release definitely deserved more attention. It deserved to dominate music media discussions, but alas the unfortunate massive impact of a global IT failure stole its thunder.
Despite that, I’ve previously expressed how “Angel Of My Dreams” has left a profound impression on me. It’s intriguing to observe that, as they launch their solo careers, each of the Little Mix members has chosen a distinct pop style. As the final member to step into the spotlight, JADE’s foray into electronic-pop is particularly exciting. The wait has definitely paid off.
“Angel Of My Dreams,” co-written by Jade, Bill Martin, Michael Sabbath, Pablo Bowman, Phil Coulter, and Steph Jones, is an evocative portrayal of the music industry. Jade describes it as a love/hate letter, artfully showcasing both the raw and glamorous aspects of the industry. The track draws parallels between Jade’s early experiences in the industry and her evolution into a seasoned performer and music artist.
The music video directed by Aube Perrie beautifully captures the journey of a young JADE with dreams of becoming a pop star. As the track’s slow-building music introduction reaches the critical point of fading out. The video opens with a nostalgic depiction of her busking outside Sainsbury’s, showcasing her humble beginnings. (Jade shared “When I was 16, I would stand outside my local Sainsbury’s and sing Christmas songs).” As the music intensifies, with a chorus of the thunderous bassline of electronic beats. JADE takes center stage, exuding larger-than-life persona and highlighting the stark contrast between her past and present. She goes full throttle slaying hard and hamming it up big time.
Summing up. Jade’s tenacity to authentically express herself and pave her own musical path has paid off. I am genuinely intrigued by the transformation of this former girl band member into a solo artist. Moreover, this is a girl band member turned solo artiste that I am eager to follow closely.
