So, if you’re curious about the inspiration behind the song title “Always Forever.” It’s worth noting that Romy’s rendition cleverly incorporates elements from Donna Lewis‘ timeless classic “I Love You Always Forever.” Furthermore, teaming up with Fred Again… and the production duo Joy Anonymous. Romy masterfully crafts a euphoric dance-pop reinterpretation that is sure to capture the hearts of listeners. And establish itself as a cherished summer anthem.
The music video for the track is just as exceptional as the song itself. The clip is directed by the renowned filmmaker Charlotte Wells. Wells is a passionate fan of Romy’s band, The xx, and first experienced their live performance in 2014 during the band’s intimate residency at New York’s Park Avenue Armor. On the other hand, Romy deeply resonated with Wells’ 2022 debut feature film “After Sun“, which has earned wide acclaim as one of the best debuts in recent times. Their mutual admiration similarly led to a friendship, ultimately resulting in their first artistic collaboration on “Always Forever,” with the support of Gucci.
