Giorgio Moroder

There is no which way about it, but I’ve felt true electronic steered pop music has seen itself rather pushed away on the outer edges of the music sphere this year, in favour of dance embodied EDM or club ready bangers which have dominated release schedules and subsequently public buying.

In no way did I envisage that it would electronic stalwart, the legendary Giorgio Moroder who would be the one to turn favour back on towards the electronic genre though!

In a surprise move it has been announced that the iconic producer, songwriter, performer and DJ will in spring 2015 release “74 Is The New 24” his first album in 30 years. To make this announcement even the more awesome the reveal of collaborators for the project thus far: established artists Kylie, Sia and Britney Spears are joined by Charli XCX, Foxes, Matthew Koma, and Mikky Ekko who make for an impressively aware new emerging artist casting, we feel.

The title track of “74 Is the New 24” is the first tease upon this phenomenal project and it comes with just the right amount of tease factor intact, being that it is mostly a retro-futuristic instrumental piece, it is set though to a visually stunning promo filmreel directed by Jai Lewis with the help of Andromeda Software Development.

Simply, if this doesn’t make you feel that you are up in the starry heavens above then you’d need to be making a call to The Doctor, since it had me on the edge of my seat half expecting an army of cybermen might intervene at some point and bring a halt the transmission.
