I cannot stress this enough, the new album “9:00 to 17:00, 17:00 To Whenever” by The Young Professionals is pure genius. The quirky electronic pop duo is already getting a bit of attention in their homeland as they have been nominated for Best Israeli Act in the MTV EMAs. Just today, the band tweeted that their album had dropped on iTunes and despite having about just enough in my bank account to afford a bit of food for the next week, I decided fuck it – what’s food anyways when you can own this brilliant new piece of sonic art.
Why is this album so special and why do I keep talking about The Young Professionals? Well, first off, it’s a concept album in the fact that each song you hear is a progression of your day, from the moment you open your eyes (“With Me”), go to work and be a slave to the man (“Young Professionals”), sneak to the bathroom to sext pictures of yourself to your hot lover (“Dirty Pictures”), to heading to the “D.I.S.C.O” to ending up somewhere seedy with an orgy going on in your mouth (“Fuck Off Berlin”) to heading into a weirdly hypnotic dreamland in “Wake Up”.
Aside from being just an enjoyable album in the same vein of Temposhark and Robyn with a huge twist of world and rock influences, “9:00 to 17:00, 17:00 To Whenever” merits being one of the most innovative and progressive albums you’ll download this year. I’m smitten with the sound and visuals that The Young Professionals flawlessly deliver and in my opinion, they are one of the most exciting new acts to hit the web.
You would seriously be missing out on something grand, poetic, killer, outer-worldly and uber wicked if you didn’t stop what you are doing right now and download this album on iTunes. Or if a physical copy is your thing, you can get one over on The Young Professionals official website.
