Earlier today, I received news that synth-pop/rock band Tokio Hotel has announced some European tour dates. The band, a German equivalent of The 1975, will kick off the ‘Beyond the World Tour’ at Indigo at the O2 in London on 30th April.
We all know about the crushing impact Covid had on the music industry. Unfortunately for Tokio Hotel, they were forced to stop their world tour in 2020. As far as I know, theirs is notably the most significant delay I have heard of when resuming touring due to those exceptional circumstances.
As they take a look back over fifteen years of success as a band with a set list jam-packed with fan favourites. They will also perform many of the new songs from their brand new album “2001“.
It’s fitting, therefore, to take a look at “When We Were Younger,” one of the band’s most recent releases. The track is a particularly euphoric production piece that not only showcases Tokio Hotel’s distinctive blend of synth-pop with a rock edge. The song lyrics are pure nostalgia. In the accompanying music video, the band gives viewers an inside look at tour life and glimpses behind the scenes of the pop star lifestyle.
“Cause some things never change. We’re feeling out of place. Our hearts still beat the same. From Berlin to LA. The same stars we’re under, like when we were younger, like when we were younger.” (song lyrics)
