If I’m being totally honest, I wasn’t really that excited to see Noah Cyrus at SXSW this year. When it comes to siblings in pop, the apple usually doesn’t fall too far from the tree, so I sorta had already judged Noah Cyrus based on her super famous sister Miley Cyrus before I had even heard any of her music. I kinda had an inkling that she was “maybe” a bit more indie cool, but that was it.

However, I was curious to say the least, so me and my posse made our way down to the always packed-out Empire Garage in Austin to check out what Noah Cyrus had to offer.

What can I say? Wow. I was pretty much blown away and I didn’t quite expect that I’d love Noah’s show as much as I did. Just watch our video highlights of the show above to get a feel for how good it was. One thing I could tell from Noah Cyrus is that the girl is polished. The Cyrus clan pretty much just have this performing thing down pat. Noah’s live show stood out head and shoulders above most of the other acts at SXSW this year. Honestly, you’d think Noah was a seasoned performer already, but the girl is young and already knows exactly how to do this pop star thing.

Having got back to London, I delved a little deeper into Noah Cyrus‘ music and I quite love her new anthem “We Are” (Fucked), an anthem to her generation needing to get woke – see the lyric video below which also features . Her collaboration with One Bit on “My Way” is electronic pop gold – you’ll probably love it as much as I did. Here’s the music video, where we Noah Cyrus channelling her inner Robyn here…

So guess what. I’m a Noah Cyrus fan now. Mission accomplished SXSW.
