If you were missing Steven Yeun as Glenn in The Walking Dead, you’re in luck, because the insanely popular actor is back starring in action horror flick Mayhem directed by Joe Lynch.

What’s it about? Ok, well it’s not zombies this time, but rather a nasty virus that infects and quickly spreads which makes people give into their inhibitions like murder, violence, sex, torture and well, as the title suggests – mayhem.

Steven Yeun plays a corporate lawyer named Derek Saunders who clawed his way to the top after winning a landmark case that excused murderers who were infected by this virus. Things start to go a bit awry for the lawyer when his superiors screw up some work for one of their most important clients and decide to frame Saunders for their royal fuck up, ultimately firing him. But with the virus quickly spreading, it’s not soon until the office is under quarantine and it’s just a mere matter of hours before the antidote cure sets in, leaving enough time for Saunders and his client Melanie, played by Samara Weaving to go on a revenge rampage all the way to the top of the corporate ladder.

Why is it good? Look, this movie is all sorts of fun. Maybe a little far-fetched in the plot, but it’s a great thrill ride that will leave you laughing out loud and providing a bit of exciting escapism for those of you who like a bit of humor with your horror. If anything, Mayhem goes to show you that Steven Yeun continues to prove himself as a worthy action hero in the roles he continues to book. I really enjoyed Mayhem as part of the SXSW Film Festival this year. In the wave of indie-inspired horror films, Mayhem was the clear leader this year and stood out on top of all the midnighter films on the program this year.

If you’re a fan of horror, look out for Mayhem once it drops. The film is so fresh that there isn’t even a trailer for it yet, but look out for it in the next couple of months.
