Hotfuss

POPTRONIK takes a scoot of the web introducing you to new music artists and generally bringing you the buzz on all that is creating a HOT FUSS in the music world.  With a little difference maybe, but definitely cool as!

This weeks HOT FUSS FIVE:

SPARK :  It’s a case of evolving, evolving for Jess Morgan.  Since the Walthamstow lass first took her steps out onto the scene last year with critically acclaimed quirky buzz track “Revolving” and her dalliance into electro rock chic mode with it’s follow up in “Crave” .  Spark hits back on the radar this week, by unveiling a selection of acoustic track streams, a new peroxide look and info on a forthcoming show with her former tour mate Marina and The Diamonds and Sweden’s newest electro pop lovelies Icona Pop. (details HERE)

From this new batch of tunes, the track “Try” held us spellbound by it’s sheer simplicity, sincerity, overall beauty in orchestration and vocal execution- leaving us with goosebumps.  We haven’t heard Spark like this before, but it is truly joyful to the ear.   Welcome back Spark, we can’t wait to hear what else you have got in store for us.  LISTEN TO: Spark – “TryHERE

PAPER CROWS : London based alternative electronica duo Paper Crows have become a firm favourite of ours over the past year. Their brand of haunting dramatic gothic vision, combined with exquisitely dainty yet compelling vocals from Emma Panas quite knock us out at every track reveal.  Fresh off tour with Fenech-Soler, in Poptronik’s opinion Paper Crows deserve to be revered in much the same esteem as The Golden Filter, as they are in everyway as beguiling and magical.  Step into twilight zone and enter the glam world of dark glitter.  WATCH: Paper Crows – "When Friends Survive" HERE

LAURA STEEL:  Coming from Sheffield the electro influence was surely born into Laura Steel’s blood. We have been a closet fan of Laura’s since her first track “Running” was featured on top techy programme “The Gadget Show” back in the Myspace age.  Completely new to the music world, Laura has worked hard to find the sound that best suits her zany personality and fashionista image, that racks up a fair lot of attention wherever she goes. Quite rightly so, she is one striking individual whose drive to succeed in this crazy music world and be true to herself is highly commended by Poptronik.  A buzzing bundle of Freddie Mercury – meets Annie Lennox  – meets Pink. We think with her recent clutch of tunes, Laura Steel has definitely arrived. Check-out our favourite and her most energised pop offering “Criminal”  – not a shade of Britney Spears in sight.  WATCH: Laura Steel – "Criminal"  HERE

BECCA FOX:  Oh my sweetness, we became entangled in the web and discovered Becca Fox  (hat –tip to the Buzzjack forum).  An endearing 19 year old scots lass who possesses the vocal capabilities to really grab your attention, she certainly did ours as we checked through her youtube channel which includes covers of The Saturdays, Nicole Scherzinger, and Pixie Lott.  Infact, she left us awestruck.  If you can nail acoustic covers as and capture an audience by the power of your voice as well as Becca Fox does then she deserves to be called a future star.  Becca’s beautiful debut self penned track “Dangerous” has just hit itunes, it boasts her acoustic lovliness  produced with a commercial pop feel to it,  and it speaks volumes to us.  An incredible multi-talented young lady indeed, we suggest you definitely check this one out.  LISTEN TO: Becca Fox – "Dangerous" HERE

CHARLI XCX:  The self-professed skanky bitch is back and she’s back with a kick.  If there is something to shout OMG about this week then Charli XCX is it to our mind. OMG!, OMG! Fresh from radio premiere -  track “Nuclear Seasons” is as if Imogen Heap and Marina Diamandis (Marina and The Diamonds) have channelled themselves into her body.  Quite an anthem of alternative electro pop proportions! One that we will not tire ourselves so readily of hitting repeat on probably for the foreseeable future, yes, yes, it really is that good!!!!   LISTEN / FREE DOWNLOAD: Charli XCX – "Nuclear Seasons" HERE
