If you know your American boy bands chances are you will be aware of IM5. They were put together by music mogul Simon Fuller, Jamie King (tour director; Michael Jackson, Madonna, J-Lo, etc.) and Perez Hilton. The band were full of sparkle and promise, released a few singles but after four years together called time on the project to enable the individual band members to embark on solo ventures.

RYDYR is the new artist name adopted by Cole Pendery of the band. The Texas native has spent the best part of the last two years working on solo material, which is now ready to be unleashed.

Introductions don’t come much bigger and bold than RYDYR’s buzzy offering “Wonderful Life“. It first powers through with a pop/rock vibe with quirks which is on par with McBusted or McFly, as the song carries along it is hard not to become aware that the rhythmically staccato piano section is leading up to an even more compelling chorus. Best of all it comes spliced with a smattering of synths and lyrics that are not afraid to pull punches.

The track was written by RYDYR in collaboration with rising pop star Olivia O’Brien who is currently building a momentum of her own with the creepy R’n’B-pop styled single “RIP“. On “Wonderful Life“, the collaborators dish some serious musical middle finger action for the haters, shit stirrers and jerks who we all know at least one of, but we never call out. Everything that needs to be said to the shady people who try to fuck us over is spoken out through the snappy lyrics contained in this spiky anthem.

RYDYR has arrived everybody. There are no doubts in our minds about it.
