You know, I love to hear about new singer-songwriter talent as well as up-and-coming artists in the electronic pop sphere, obviously. I have been given the best of both worlds, on the hot new release “Without You” from Dutch DJ, producer Steve Void and vocalist AUSTN. While, Void has been steadily chipping away, establishing himself more as an artist than a remixer, producer/DJ entity, lately. Youngster Austin Brown is just beginning venturing out, catching the ears of listeners with his appealing, pop sensible voice. Their collaboration is a significant step for both artists, in helping their musical skills reach a wider audience.
The first thing I noticed about this track was AUSTN’s voice and how soulfully pop-centric it is. When I think back to the earlier Shawn Mendes releases. I have realised that AUSTN and the Grammy-nominated singer both come from the same ballpark, in so far as where their tonality and vocals are concerned. This, in turn, made me instantly recognise that AUSTN has a voice with the capabilities to excite pop aficionados. And likely that “Without You” is a big springboard for him in terms of, raising his profile.
Master beat-maker of the track Steve Void, segues together sections of jangling, stringed guitars mixed with popping bass-lines. In a style which is reminiscent of Cheatcodes crisp production. Wrapping infectious melody with love-stung lyrics. The song soars with hopeful expectation and yearning.
Like the majority of music fans, first thing every Friday morning I skim through all the new music Friday releases on Spotify. Week-on-week I’ve broken away from listening in dismay because there are not enough big electronic pop releases being featured as much I would want. Today is different and already off on a happier footing because of Steve Void and AUSTN’s top tune “Without You“. It’s a powerful record that pulls you inside and immerses you in its mood and sound. TGIF, in my ears, this track is top 40 worthy.
