It’s a new music release day today for alt-pop artist Yavin! Yet, in comparison to other single launches from this artist, the latest track, “When We Touch” is an especially exhilarating occasion. When previously featuring him on this blog, Yavin has notably shared a lyrically whimsical and self-deprecating brand of pop. Often poignantly leaning but always incredibly listenable and insightful. Today’s release “When We Touch,” stands out as somewhat different, as Yavin openly basks in his sensual side unreservedly.

Yavin’s lyrics embody raw authenticity, passionately expressing deep desires and intense emotions experienced during intimate romantic encounters. Additionally, he skillfully articulates the profound significance of touch. Illustrating how reaching out can convey powerful emotions that transcend verbal communication. Moreover, creating an unspoken love language.

In his artistry, Yavin consistently infused his music with a playful essence, even when delving into dark lyricism and themes on previous tracks. However he acknowledges, “I felt like that’s what people wanted from me.” Furthermore, a significant shift is taking place in Yavin’s musical journey as he begins to openly express his authentic emotions. Unveiling a tender side of himself without any hesitation or reservation.

He reveals…

“On this song, I’m the one fully taking charge and showing a side that I’ve always had in private, but never felt like I was supposed to show in public. So writing it felt pretty liberating”.

Notwithstanding Yavin’s candid lyricism I also immensely enjoy the DIY music videos he shares. There is something so endearing in the way he translates lyrical themes into visuals moreover, using his creative flair. Similarly, the visuals for “When We Touch” depict appreciation of and inspiration from TV and film. For this song in particular Kaio Cesar (photographer as well as Yavin’s husband) I pulled from A24 films such as 2024’s “I Saw The TV Glowand a whole lot of old Hollywood movie posters.

Although, above all there is a lot of talent, being showcased by Yavin on “When We Touch” that shouldn’t be overlooked. He’s a powerful lyricist, creating an endearing sound and I want to hear more from him, especially so because of fully taking charge of the emotive lyrical narrative.
