Here, I am writing about the singer, songwriter, producer FJ Law latest track “tongue tied.” I want you to know it is somewhat of a miracle that I managed to type up this post at all. My struggle with this task being. Every time, I sat down to listen to the track upon reaching its end, I would then be linked into a stream of Baby Queen tracks. I became much distracted by this because of currently being super obsessed by all things Baby Queen. The fault does lie with, me because rather than using the Spotify stream provided, I plumped for a listen via the lyric video instead. In my defence. I felt this would be the best way to gain clarity, about the lyrics, and to absorb more of the “tongue tied” ambience.

FJ Law (the stage name of Danny Hall) has chalked up just two tracks to date. He debuted with “friends” in October 2020, and follows up with “tongue tied.” But really (despite being thrown off track by Baby Queen link throughs) it is the latter of the releases which has got me investing my attention in the DIY musician. He’s been pigeonholed as a creator of alt-indie tunes. Yes guitars feature, as do synths and electronic keyboards (there is quite a lot of use of them actually.) It is a good interesting, mix and mellow, not at all challenging on the ears.

The message of the song is in fact very, clear. It is about being stuck in a bad situation and learning to have the confidence to move forward. Yeah, it may not be as easy as it sounds. For the sake of self, sometimes we have to have a cold hard chat with ourselves.

”This song is about, never finding the right words to say, in important, situations. Always stumbling over your sentences and never helping the situation. A problem I struggle with a lot”. Says FJ Law.

I completely understand the struggle FJ Law sings about. I am much better at writing down my thoughts than talking them out. FJ Law is much better at being a singer, songwriter and producer. His style is fresh, seriously, cool, coupled with easy accessibility. “tongue tied” is certainly, among the catchiest of indie-pop tracks. He’s already received plays on BBC introducing. I highly suspect he’ll likeliest have a chance at the big time.
