Blaqstarr

By Mandy Rogers

Blaqstarr is a name that’s fast become synonymous around the dance rap circles of the USA.  The triple threat, Producer /DJ and Artist has worked with M.I.A., Mos Def, Talib Kweli and he is also noted for discovering little miss rapping dynamo of the moment Rye Rye.

I have to confess that all things rap, are not really my forte at all and I am hard nut to crack into on it.  Where so many before have failed to capture my attention, it’s fallen down to the seasoned multi-talented performer to hook me into it.

With his eccentric slant dropped down on the genre, Blaqstarr has captured my attention with this super catchy ditty “She Is Love” from his forthcoming album  “Here We Are” out later this year.

What’s won me to like “She is Love” is that it’s stripped down to acoustic levels, whilst being neither over produced, pretentious or overbearing with a lot of blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, rap speak that only the hardcore rap audience might connect with.

She Is Love” is easy on the ear, it’s also giving me plenty of quirky flashbacks to The Cure’s “Close To Me”, which in my book of pop knowledge is always a pleasurable experience.

Plus, Blaqstarr has got some serious 360º  interactively engaging single art to show off on this one – check it here and have fun with it!
