The Chicago production duo Louis The Child, drop their debut album “Here For Now” on June 12th. This is a very big leap for band members Robby Hauldren and Freddy Kennett, from when we met up with the boys at British Summer Time festival, in 2017. Although it has been a while since we wrote about the guys. They’ve hardly been slacking when it comes to collaborating and releasing tracks. As I just spent at least an hour on Spotify catching up with what has been going on. Louis The Child has been stacking up the tracks for sure, but I hasten to add I am most piqued with the pop crossover releases the best. Much like the current focus single “Nobody Like You” with Vera Blue.
You know I really feel I should have written about Vera Blue before, as I do enjoy the Australian singer-songwriters folksy, alternative style. Her voice, so endearing and emotive, otherworldly and dreamy. It is not so hard to be cast spellbound at just the tiniest helping of what Vera has to offer. Even though she works within the electronic realm herself. In collaboration with Louis The Child, the boys manage to squeeze even more shine out of her voice, because they are skilled and clever like that.
Louis The Child says about the track, “The beat for this song had been sitting on our computers for about a year before we wrote to it. It reminded us a lot of the synth-pop music that was coming out in the early 2010s from people like CHVRCHES, The Naked And Famous, Passion Pit, etc. (Martin from CHVRCHES actually helped write the lyrics with us, which was a really cool experience). Vera Blue absolutely crushed it on the vocals, those harmonies in the bridge get us every time. We hope this song brings some life and happiness to you in these times.”
Although easy to spot it, I’m glad the boys cleared up the CHVRCHES (Martin Doherty’s) involvement on the track. “Nobody Like You” is probably the most CHVRCHES sounding, NOT CHVRCHES track ever.
