We were reasonably early adopters of SHAED, first writing about them in 2017. Raj also got to check the band out the same year during his annual pilgrimage to SXSW. SHAED’s moody, soulful electronic pop was a hit with the both of us. We felt it was only a matter of time before they had a hit song on their hands that everyone would know about. The band’s breakout came with the track “Trampoline,” first used in a MacBook Air, TV commercial. Later in 2019, a remix of the track surfaced featuring additional vocals by former One Direction member ZAYN.
Chances are, you will have heard at least one version of “Trampoline.” Although, possibly unaware who was behind the track. It is Washington DC trio SHAED, twin brothers Max and Spencer Ernst with vocalist Chelsea Lee (she’s now married to Spencer.) With interest picking up on the band and utilizing their downtime owing to the pandemic. They’ve since been hard at work getting their debut album together (slated for release April 16th 2021, through Photo Finish Records). But, today they release the first of their new material and indicator to the album, the track “No Other Way.”
SHAED’s, return is somewhat brighter than the earlier moodier offerings. A bona fide feel-good anthem steered by a super-catchy refrain that you will most probably find yourselves whistling out aloud without a moments thought. Indeed, since checking out the track, it has remained firmly, stuck fast in my head, for days. I’ve been buzzing for Friday’s, release day to arrive. We will see SHAED in another sync-deal, “No Other Way” has such potential.
“These past 6 months have been a struggle for us all, filled with anxiety, disappointment, and uncertainty. We wrote this song as a reminder to live in the moment, which is the only thing we can control.” – SHAED
“No Other Way” with its ear-worm melody and lyrics has the power to elevate the band further. Therefore, I have very, good hopes SHAED will reach new heights next year.
