Today, I’m excited to bring back the spotlight on DECO, the London-based viral pop band I introduced on the blog in 2022. With a rapidly growing fan base, DECO has secured coveted tour spots with pop elite acts like Tony Hadley, A-ha. Although most recently, they have performed with Nile Rodgers, CHIC, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Rick Astley, and Madness. Their music style is a vibrant blend of 80s, 90s, and 00s retro influences. Thus making DECO a must-listen for pop culture enthusiasts. Furthermore, every track they release is absolutely captivating and obsession-worthy. FACT!
DECO consistently delivers infectious pop hits. In fact, their YouTube channel is packed with original tracks and vibrant 80s, 90s, and 00s synth-pop-inspired covers and mash-ups. During the pandemic, the band cleverly maintained its growing public image by diving into these retro-inspired covers. Fortunately, the band’s concerns about losing traction during the pandemic were unfounded. Moreover, their cover tracks and mash-ups gained immense popularity, allowing them to seamlessly return to creating their original retro-style music once normalcy resumed.
The reward for their tenacity and determination is about to come to fruition with the release of their debut album “Destination: I Don’t Know,” out on 6th September. Which is preceded by the new focus single “Next To You,” a track in the band’s signature funkified 80s synth-pop style.
What’s not to like about DECO’s music when it’s upbeat and rhythmically strong, honed with hooks aplenty and extremely groovalicious. Once upon a time, many albums sounded similar to what this band is now producing. They have tapped into the retro sound of the 80s yesteryear and yet, by the same token, made a signature sound that is completely their own.
Speaking of nostalgia, what about this! The album “Destination: I Don’t Know” comes with a special magazine, inspired by the popular 80s music magazine ‘Smash Hits.” This magazine will feature Q&A interviews with the likes of Zoe Ball, Dawn French, Tom Kerridge, Hollywood Actress Kate Walsh & more; a motley crew all of whom have played a part in DECO’s journey so far as a band.
In the upcoming magazine, there is an exciting feature, a bonus edition of their debut album. This special edition includes the bands most popular ‘80s covers, which offer a fresh perspective on modern hits in the ‘80s style. Furthermore, these covers have gathered millions of views and are definitely worth checking out.
