Current Mz pop swagger muffin Cher Lloyd, has got herself a new genre grimey team mate to bounce and bump along with in Ny – who is gearing up, to be quite the full force of urban grime.
REWIND: For youngster Ny this is not an on a whim career, she has absorbed herself into a musical background. Indeed, music is the fabric of her life, that stemmed from humble beginnings making instruments with her parents as child before seeking out and broadening her options whilst in her teens by recording jingles for pirate radio station Freak FM.
Her further schooling has been a on a ride with the best of them – on tour with Ms Dynamite but purely in an observing role, which served as a mentoring masterclass and in turn encouraged Ny to put together mix tapes that she sold around the London’s West End and have won her the backing from some of grimes elite – Plan B, Wiley and Professor Green.
FORWARD WIND: Ny’s debut single “Music” is a positive move forward from the mix tape culture into the next level. The vibe co-heres to a heavy beat ridden, garage recipe that slinks into its fabric some phat daddy bass swagger that could easily call itself tribute upon Aaliyah’s “More Than A Woman”.
Sure this is a jump over into the garage pop arena for us, but it does also score highly on the pop appeal tootin' radar too.
