Sending out praise where it is due. The boffins behind this year’s Coachella festival pulled off an astounding live stream of the event this year. I have enjoyed tuning in these past few weeks. Watching cool pop stars like Rina Sawayama, Caroline Polachek and Bishop Briggs others who are not Harry Styles. I probably could have watched more performances had I not rewatched Harry’s set three times. I might then have noticed Madeon on the line-up, also.
Upon seeing a note drop in my inbox to alert me about the Grammy-nominated musician’s new track “Love You Back“. Rather than jump straight into the newest single. I felt I should cram in a watch of some Coachella performance highlights of Madeon’s sets first. I can sum up Madeon’s Coachella sets in one word. That word is spectacular. These were nothing short of a mind-blowing treat for all the senses. (Check out here).
However, the French producer/musician also felt motivated to share a recording of the track “Love You Back” with the world. A song which until now has been performed during his live shows only.
The song particularly flexed his fans. They asked a long time ago for a recorded version of the song “Love You Back.” Both dreamy and euphoric. Stylewise, the song is unmistakably Madeon. A style which takes us back to his debut album “Adventure“.
About the song, Madeon says, “‘Love You Back’ is a song about being on the other side of unrequited love – being with somebody who loves you more than you ever could. I’ve played versions of it at my shows for years, and fans started developing a real connection to it. That motivated me to finally share it with everybody. This summer felt like a particularly appropriate time”.
Madeon’s Coachella sets were a full-on immersive sensory experience owing to the stunning digital visuals created with collaborators The Architects. Although we expect spectacular visuals and interesting concepts from Madeon, he surpassed himself this time around. So no surprise when putting a visualizer together for “Love You Back” a little of the same aesthetic were used, as well as imagery evoking summery feels.
