As I recall, when releasing the 2021 debut album “Mind Games,” rising pop singer-songwriter JORDY completed the run of promotional tracks with the emotionally affecting song “South Dakota.” This was a particularly yearning offering and a significant departure in his music, where he embraced an acoustic style. As JORDY prepares to release his sophomore album “BOY” on April 21st, following a run of lyrically heartfelt singles including “i get high” and “Story of a Boy“. He returns in similar fashion to the last album cycle. Sharing one last spectacular soul-baring offering, “Love You and Let You Go.”
By now, I should be accustomed to JORDY hitting me in the feels. Even so, he does have a knack for reaching in and sharing incredibly poignant and brutally honest narratives about life and love time and time again. And yet, with this phenomenal track record, he still comes back powerfully, pouring out even more tear-jerking pop.
In his latest bittersweet song, JORDY reflects on breaking up with a lover but not parting ways on bad terms. It is because they realise this isn’t the right time for them. They love one another but also recognise it is in their best interests that they move on from one another. They do so, however hard it is. In fact, after only a few seconds of listening to the song, I had concluded JORDY dialled the blubbering wreck meter up to 11. I’ll leave it to your imagination to guess how many tears rolled down my cheeks before the song reached its suspenseful end.
It goes without saying I am hugely excited for the sophomore album “BOY,” in equal measure to and anticipation of JORDY’s upcoming UK Tour dates in May.
