Akin to rising Australian synth-pop trio Blusher. The synth-pop matriarch Alison Goldfrapp is another artist who headed to the Latitude Festival over the weekend. Recently releasing music as a solo artist in 2023. Alison has another special reason for continuing to promote the critically acclaimed 2023 album “The Love Invention.” Namely, being the launch of her own label A.G Records, and the subsequent debut of her first single “I Wanna Be Loved” (Just A Little Better) on the imprint.
What’s more, Alison is launching another taste of the dancefloor, a Richard X collaboration, no less. The track “I Wanna Be Loved,” continues in a similar musical vein to Alison’s “The Love Invention” album of last year. While exhibiting, notable 80s music influence, and described by Alison as “fun, fizzy, a little bit melancholic and a little bit retro.” The new track is a must-listen, for all synth-pop and 80s music enthusiasts and moreover, Richard X/Alison Goldfrapp fans.
“This is my first single on my own newly launched record label A.G Records. It’s an exciting new chapter for me after two decades in the industry. To own my masters for the first time and share my music with the world in truly my own way feels really quite exhilarating,” Alison enthuses.
While there is no official confirmation that this new track originates from the Richard X recording sessions for the 2023 albums “The Love Invention” and “The Love Reinvention.” Moreover, it seems highly likely the track stemmed from here. Nevertheless, the new song exudes perfect summertime vibes and delivers a splendid synth-pop experience. It is also a resplendent choice when marking Alison’s debut as a solo artist in an independent capacity.
The exciting announcement does seem to indicate more music is on the way from Alison. Likeliest meaning, the long term prospect of an EP/album lies further ahead for 2025/26.
