We’ve all seen female singer-songwriter artists like Julia Michaels, Daya and Lennon Stella take off in recent years. Their creativity has really, been an exceedingly desirable addition to the current state of pop. In a very short time in their solo careers, these skillful ladies have amassed charting hit songs for themselves. It goes to show that when much, is said about female pop acts, not getting an equal footing in the music industry. Because of, a crop of brilliantly, talented newcomers, the boy-girl, male-female balance is somewhat being readdressed. Adding her weight to the female pop explosion, I’d like to introduce EQ Music readers to Ella Isaacson. She arrives on our radar today with her latest release “Expectations” a collaboration with Grammy-nominated R’n’B wunderkind Gallant.
You might now be asking yourselves, how can Mandy be convinced, that such a bright future in pop, is Ella’s for the taking? Are you ready to be bamboozled with some facts, that lead me to feel like this? Her vocal command. Her lyrical prowess. Her choice of relatable topics. A co-sign by Norweigan superproducers Stargate. Do I need to go on?…
The track is sung with such depth of feeling both by Ella and her phenomenal collaborator Gallant. Their voices mesh so wonderfully, a shade of pop met with rich soulfulness. It’s like a mouthwatering surf ‘n’ turf combo, of deliciousness. An A1 pop song, that bigger names in pop would likeliest pull the necessary strings to record the track for themselves. While having every intention to land it on the charts.

“I wanted to tell a story about coming out as who you are and how sometimes in life you start on a path or a direction and suddenly things change. You change or unlock who you really, are in ways you didn’t even expect. We try on a shoe, that just doesn’t fit no matter how much we wanted it to.”
Her honest emotional expression is clearly on display everywhere on “Expectations.” Ella has a class, which stands out from lots of other rising newcomer acts. On a hectic New Music Friday release day, she is the best-undiscovered act that you will come across today.
